Sims with Knowledge Aspirations dream of being successful in the Science career. With a little effort, your sim can make it all the way to Mad Scientist!

When pursuing a science career, a sim should work to build up Logic, Cooking, and Cleaning skills. A good mood, some friends, and a high Aspiration meter will help a sim rise in the ranks more quickly.

A good way to get ahead is to understand two game elements: Career Path and Career Chance Cards.

1. Career Path

In the Sims 2, adult sims can go from Test Subject to Mad Scientist by following the 10 jobs in the science career path. Science-loving teen and elder sims can follow their own 3 job career path as well.

Adult Career Path:

Level 1: Test Subject ($217)
No skills or friends needed

Level 2: Lab Assistant ($322)
1 Cooking, 1 Cleaning

Level 3: Field Researcher ($448)
1 Cooking, 3 Cleaning, 1 Logic

Level 4: Science Teacher ($525)
2 Cooking, 5 Cleaning, 1 Logic, 1 Friend

Level 5: Project Leader ($630)

Level 9: Theorist ($1,522)
7 Cooking, 9 Cleaning, 9 Logic, 5 Friends

Level 10: Mad Scientist ($2,333)

Teen/Elder Career Path:

Level 1: Lab Glass Scrubber ($64)
No skills or friends needed.

Level 2: Test Subject ($105)
1 Logic, 1 Friend

Level 3: Lab Assistant ($115)

2. Career Chance Cards

While your sim is at work, you may be given an extra career opportunity. Sometimes a box will appear describing something that is happening at work. You will be given two options for how your sim should handle the scenario. There is also an "Ignore" button if you don't want to take a chance.

Either of the two options could give you a reward or a punishment. Whether the choice helps or hurts is a matter of chance. The same option that helped another sim could now set a sim back. It's a good idea to save your game before sims go to work, just in case you get a Chance Card with a negative outcome.
